In addition to the jury’s recognition, the shortlisted projects are in the running for the People’s Lovie Award, the winner of which is decided by public vote. Votes can be cast until 15 October.
A musical series that brings together animation and Portuguese-speaking creativity
Planets It stems from the creative direction of Coréon Dú and combines music, animation and visual storytelling to create a universe of its own. The series features collaborations with artists from across the African Portuguese-speaking world, including Rui Orlando, Dama do Bling, Telma Lee, Arieth Feijó and Sara Dem, as well as producers such as Boddhi Satva, Mallaryah, Jorge Cervantes and Detergente.
The visuals are animated by oWohoma Studio, an animation collective based in Huíla Province, Angola. The collaboration brings together different creative disciplines and regions, positioning animation as a tool for exploring new ways of telling stories from Africa and the Portuguese-speaking world.
The proposal also reflects one of the themes that has characterised Coréon Dú’s work: the creation of projects that combine music, imagery, fashion, audiovisual media and digital culture to present contemporary perspectives on Angola and its creative scene.
A new chapter in the Lovie Awards
