The anthology series Hotel Palanca has won his first international award by receiving a Telly Award 2025 in the series category. This victory places the project on the global audiovisual scene and confirms the growing interest in quality African fiction.
A cast of strong performers
With a stellar cast, Hotel Palanca offers a visual and narrative experience that draws on both emerging and established talent. The series features Lélis Twevekamba (How to be a Carioca, on Disney+), Erica Chissapa (Jikulumessu, Morangos Com Açúcar on Amazon Prime Video and TVI), Nelson Faustino, Graciany Sukissa y Emerson Durão. Each episode presents a new mystery story, set in the same hotel, but with different protagonists and disturbing situations.
Two seasons, one identity
The first season of Hotel Palanca premiered in October 2024 in the PALOP region through DStv (Multichoice Group, South Africa). After an excellent reception from audiences and critics, the series was renewed for a second season, which hit the screen in April 2025. This continuity demonstrates the strength of the format and the creative consistency behind the project.
A recognition in the midst of giants
The Telly Awardsestablished in 1979, celebrates the best of content for television, digital platforms and hybrid formats. In its most recent edition, the competition received more than 13,000 entries from six continents. Participants included names such as MTV Entertainment Studios, Telemundo, CGTN, Univision, Korean Broadcasting System y Shanghai Media Group.
By obtaining a place among these international references, Hotel Palanca confirms its quality as a distinct narrative proposal, visually powerful and capable of resonating beyond its borders of origin.

With a carefully crafted aesthetic and an original approach to the mystery genre, Hotel Palanca continues to broaden the scope of African audiovisual narrative in a global context that is increasingly attentive to the diversity of voices and formats.
