Open call for Kultura Con 2025: an invitation to create from diversity

The festival KULTURA WITH returns in its 2025 edition with a new call for applications open to artists, creators and collectives from all over the world. The event will take place at the Mexico Citybetween the 31 August and 28 Septemberand will bring together cultural proposals that dialogue with the present from multiple languages and perspectives.

A festival to think and transform collectively

KULTURA CON is defined as a multidisciplinary festival which celebrates cultural diversity from the global south, with an intersectional, inclusive and contemporary approach. Its programming seeks to generate a meeting space where art, thought, community experience and creative action intertwine in a living ecosystem.

Through talks, film, dance, visual art, design, performance and workshops, KULTURA CON proposes a platform for imagining new futures, making visible under-represented narratives and building bridges between identities, territories and ways of life.

Thematic axes

The proposals submitted must be linked to one of the five thematic axes that guide the programming of this edition:

  • Cultural hybridisation and new identitiesProjects that explore how identities transform, collide or dialogue in an interconnected world.
  • The era of "careWorks that address care as an essential practice - of the planet, of communities, of the body, of the everyday - not as a trend, but as a political and emotional act.
  • Emotional economyArtistic reflections on the influence of digital consumption, algorithms and technology on our emotions, relationships and personal narratives.
  • Contemporary resilienceCultural manifestations that document, sustain or celebrate processes of resistance, transformation and memory, both local and global.
  • Common futuresImaginaries that propose alternative forms of coexistence, experimental languages and emerging structures for inhabiting a liquid world.

Who can participate?

The call is open to people over 18 years of age - of any nationality or gender identity - who wish to submit proposals in one or more categories. Individual creators, collectives or interdisciplinary teams can apply.

Participation is freeThe projects can be either face-to-face or digital, depending on the requirements of the proposal.

Selection process

The academic team will review all applications in two phases. First, an individual evaluation will be carried out by each member of the committee. Afterwards, a collective discussion will take place to define the official selection 2025.

Selected participants will be notified by email. Virtual group meetings will also be convened to resolve doubts and coordinate logistical aspects.

Conditions for participation

KULTURA CON does not cover the costs of transport, accommodation and food. Selected participants will be responsible for these expenses in case their physical presence in Mexico City is necessary.

However, the festival is committed to offering a space for visibility, exchange and dissemination to new audiences, media and cultural networks. The platform allows the participating proposals to dialogue with a wide and diverse audience, both local and international.

Use of materials

By submitting a proposal, you authorise the use of the material sent (images, videos, texts, etc.) exclusively for the purpose of disseminating and promoting the festival. Authorship credits will always be respected.

KULTURA WITH 2025 seeks to be part of a cultural movement that does not limit itself to showing, but proposes, connects, mobilises and transforms. The call is an open invitation to those who believe in the power of art and thought as engines of change.
