The film Against Alla collaboration between the project I Love Kuduro and Angolan independent filmmaker Satanha Cinéfilohas been awarded the Audience Award for Best Feature Film at the 16th edition of the FESTIN (Festival de Cinema Itinerante da Língua Portuguesa), recently held in Lisbon, Portugal. In addition, the film received a Jury's Honourable Mention in the Official Feature Film Competition, confirming its impact on both critics and audiences.
FESTIN as a platform for Lusophone cinema
The FESTIN is one of the leading venues for Portuguese-language cinema. Based in Lisbon since 2010, the festival celebrates the cultural diversity of Portuguese-speaking countries through an itinerant and plural approach. In its 16th edition, FESTIN reaffirmed its commitment to the emerging voices of independent cinema, especially those that make visible diverse social, cultural and linguistic realities within the Lusophone universe.
Against All marks the first foray of the I Love Kuduro platform in fictional cinema. The work had its world premiere in Portugal as part of the official competition of FESTIN 2025and was subsequently selected for the Abuja International Film Festivalin Nigeria, as part of its African premiere. In June 2025, it finally arrived in Angolan theatres, screening in the Cinemax cinemas in Luanda and Benguelawhere she was enthusiastically received by the local public.
Starring Fernando Mailoge, Ednara da Conceição and Nelson FaustinoThe film tells the story of young people struggling to make their way in the music industry, facing personal and structural obstacles. With an authentic approach and deeply rooted in the social reality of Angola, Against All is also a celebration of the idiomatic richness of Portuguese as it is spoken and transformed in Luanda and other Angolan regions.
